Use your old laptop’s screen as a second (extended) display

🔹 Using Spacedesk to Turn Laptop into Second Monitor

Step 1: Install Spacedesk on Your New PC (Windows 11 – “Server”)

  1. Go to 👉 https://spacedesk.net.

  2. Download Spacedesk DRIVER Software for Windows Primary PC (Server).

  3. Install it on your new PC (the one you want to extend from).

    • After install, Spacedesk will run in the background (you’ll see it in the taskbar/system tray).


Step 2: Install Spacedesk on Your Old Laptop (Windows 10 – “Viewer”)

  1. On your laptop, go to the same site.

  2. Download Spacedesk VIEWER Software for Windows Secondary Machine (Viewer).

  3. Install it.


Step 3: Connect Laptop to PC

  1. Make sure both devices are on the same network:

    • Best: connect both with LAN/Ethernet cable to your router.

    • Okay: both on the same Wi-Fi.

  2. Open Spacedesk Viewer on your laptop.

  3. It should automatically detect your new PC (by IP and name).

  4. Click Connect.


Step 4: Adjust Display Settings

  1. On your new PC, press Win + P → select Extend.

  2. Or go to Settings → Display and arrange the monitor positions.


⚡ Performance Tips

  • LAN/Ethernet connection = best performance, minimal lag.

  • On Wi-Fi, keep both devices close to the router.

  • You can adjust resolution and quality in Spacedesk Viewer settings if needed.


✅ That’s it! Your old laptop now works as an extended monitor for your new PC.
